Our legal placements over the last couple of years...

Sometimes it’s just better to skip the blurbs and see what a company has actually achieved in order to get an understanding of what they do. Here at Redland Search HQ, we are working increasingly with law firms on all non-fee earning roles.

We thought it would be useful to demonstrate to clients the types of roles in that we have successfully filled over the past 18 months or so. So I’ve compiled a list of all the roles in law firms (and one accountancy firm) that we’ve filled since Jan 2022 when the market normalised. Not at all bad for a team of three!

Here goes…

Retained Search:

When it comes to specialist senior roles we opt for the retained search model and we have been successful with the following roles:

Head of Marketing - a start-up law firm, looking to bring Conveyancing into the digital world needed a Head of Marketing to help them fulfill their ambitions. We found a talented individual living locally and duly helped her to build a team.

Consulting Director - a new role spearheading a new Consulting Practice sitting within a Top 30 law firm. The role needed a candidate with particular regulatory knowledge coupled with an understanding of the Consulting industry. We found someone within one of the Big 4 firms who could hit the ground running.

CMO - a brand new role focusing on Brand Proposition and management of over 40 BD & Marketing staff in Bristol. We found a candidate with over 20yrs Marketing and BD experience within the UK Commercial Law market.

Knowledge Director - a brand new role at a rapidly growing commercial law firm in Bristol. The successful candidate works hybrid home/office and came from a top-tier consultancy.

Head of Sustainability - brand new role to focus on CSR across a large law firm experiencing rapid growth. The successful candidate was in Manchester.

Head of Regulatory Claims & Compliance - another new role coming about from extensive growth. An experienced PI Litigator was needed as the intermediate between claimants against the firm and the firm itself. The successful candidate would also need to be able to build a team of Associates. The role was in Bristol, candidate was in Yorkshire.

Head of Client Development - creating a new Key Client Programme and starting a whole new Client Development Team for a highly successful UK-wide commercial law firm. Candidate in Yorkshire and splitting time between Yorkshire, Bristol and home.

Non-Retained Work:

The more senior roles are often worked on an exclusive basis and the junior roles are normally standard contingent recruitment placements. Here’s a brief look at the roles we filled in 2022/23
